At Wellsboro Small Animal Hospital P.C., we understand the importance of accurate and timely diagnosis in ensuring your pet's health. Our in-house digital radiographs (X-rays) and ultrasounds provide superior detail and quick results, enabling us to evaluate your pet for internal illness, trauma, or pregnancy effectively.

Ultrasound is an excellent diagnostic tool for evaluating internal organs for various disease processes. It has the advantage of allowing us to see inside the body and even inside certain organs that is impossible with radiographs. For example, an ultrasound can be used to look at and inside the heart to determine the severity of heart disease by evaluating both structure and function of the heart as it beats. We can also look for diseases within an organ, such as the gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidneys, or bladder. Only the overall contour of these organs can be evaluated on radiographs, whereas the ultrasound can evaluate the inside structures of these organs. Ultrasound also allows us to see organs that do not appear on radiographs, such as certain lymph nodes, the uterus, the adrenal glands, and the pancreas. Another advantage of ultrasound is earlier detection of pregnancy when compared to radiographs.

Cardiac Diagnostics (Ultrasound)

We have partnered with board-certified veterinary cardiologist, Dr. Eva M. Oxford, DVM, PhD, DACVIM (Cardiology) - owner of The Heart Vet Cardiology Services for Animals. We have equipped our ultrasound technology to allow full diagnostic cardiac services. Valery Weaver, BS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT, is a local experienced human echocardiography technician who brings her skills to the veterinary world. Valery will obtain high quality echocardiograms to be evaluated by Dr. Oxford. We also accept patient referrals for cardiac diagnostics!
